Numbers 20:20-21

“But he said, ‘You shall not pass through.’ And Edom came out against them with a large army and with a strong force. Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his territory, so Israel turned away from him.”

Numbers 20:20-21

But he said, “You shall not pass through.”

“‘Behold, I will press you down in your place, as a cart full of sheaves presses down. Flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not retain his strength, nor shall the mighty save his life; he who handles the bow shall not stand, and he who is swift of foot shall not save himself, nor shall he who rides the horse save his life; and he who is stout of heart among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day,’ declares the LORD.”

Amos 2:13-16

“Pass over to Calneh, and see, and from there go to Hamath the great; then go down to Gath of the Philistines. Are you better than these kingdoms? Or is their territory greater than your territory,”

Amos 6:2

And Edom came out against them with a large army

Amos 6:13-14

Strong H2389: violent; from H2388: to fasten upon; to seize.

Force H3027: a hand (the open one in distinction from H3709 the closed one); power.

“Against a godless nation I send him, and against the people of my wrath I command him, to take spoil and seize plunder, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.”

Isaiah 10:6

“And to the others he said in my hearing, “Pass through the city after him, and strike. Your eye shall not spare, and you shall show no pity.”

Ezekiel 9:5

“Let us lift up our hearts and hands to God in heaven: ‘We have transgressed and rebelled, and you have not forgiven. You have wrapped yourself with anger and pursued us, killing without pity; you have wrapped yourself with a cloud so that no prayer can pass through. Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his territory,

“Truly, I say to you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.”

So Israel turned away from him.

“Since his days are determined, and the number of his months is with you, and you have appointed his limits that he cannot pass, look away from him and leave him alone, that he may enjoy, like a hired hand, his day.”
