An Eternal Perspective

7 "Then will [matter] be [destroyed], or not?"

The Savior said, "Every nature, every form, every creature exists in and with each other, but they'll dissolve again into their own roots, because the nature of matter dissolves into its root alone. Anyone who has ears to hear should hear!"

Peter said to him, "Since you've explained everything to us, tell us one more thing. What's the sin of the world?"

The Savior said, "Sin doesn't exist, but you're the ones who make sin when you act in accordance with the nature of adultery, which is called 'sin.' That's why the Good came among you, up to the things of every nature in order to restore it within its root."

Then he continued and said, "That's why you get sick and die, because [you love 8 what tricks you. Anyone who] can understand should understand!

"Matter [gave birth to] a passion that has no image because it comes from what's contrary to nature. Then confusion arises in the whole body. That's why I told you to be content at heart. If you're discontented, find contentment in the presence of the various images of nature. Anyone who has ears to hear should hear!"

The Gospel

When the Blessed One said these things, he greeted them all and said, "Peace be with you! Acquire my peace. Be careful not to let anyone mislead you by saying, 'Look over here!' or 'Look over there!' Because the Son of Humanity exists within you. Follow him! Those who seek him will find him.

"Go then and preach the gospel about the kingdom. Don't 9 lay down any rules beyond what I've given you, nor make a law like the lawgiver, lest you be bound by it." When he said these things, he left.

But they grieved and wept bitterly. They said, "How can we go up to the Gentiles to preach the gospel about the kingdom of the Son of Humanity? If they didn't spare him, why would they spare us?"

Mary and Jesus

Then Mary arose and greeted them all. She said to her brothers (and sisters), "Don't weep and grieve or let your hearts be divided, because his grace will be with you all and will protect you. Rather we should praise his greatness because he's prepared us and made us Humans."

When Mary said these things, she turned their hearts [toward] the Good and they [started] to debate the words of [the Savior].

10 Peter said to Mary, "Sister, we know the Savior loved you more than all other women. Tell us the words of the Savior that you remember – the things which you know that we don't, and which we haven't heard."

In response Mary said, "I'll tell you what's hidden from you." So she started to tell them these words: "I," she said, "I saw the Lord in a vision and I said to him, 'Lord, I saw you in a vision today.'

"In response he said to me, 'You're blessed because you didn't waver at the sight of me. For where the mind is, there is the treasure.'

"I said to him, 'Lord, now does the one who sees the vision see it /in\ the soul /or\ in the spirit?'

"In response the Savior said, 'They don't see in the soul or in the spirit, but the mind which [exists] between the two is [what] sees the vision [and] it [that …]

Overcoming the Powers

15 "And Desire said, 'I didn't see you going down, but now I see you're going up. So why are you lying, since you belong to me?'

"In response the soul said, 'I saw you, but you didn't see me or know me. I was to you just a garment, and you didn't recognize me.' When it said these things, it left, rejoicing greatly.

"Again, it came to the third power, which is called 'Ignorance.' [It] interrogated the soul and [said], 'Where are you going? In wickedness you're bound. Since you're bound, don't judge!'

"[And] the soul said, 'Why do you judge me, since I haven't judged? I was bound, even though I haven't bound. They didn't recognize me, but I've recognized that everything will dissolve – both the things of the [earth] 16 and the things of [heaven].'

"When the soul had overcome the third power, it went up and saw the fourth power, which took seven forms:

The first form is Darkness;

The second, Desire;

The third, Ignorance;

The fourth, Zeal for Death;

The fifth, the Kingdom of the Flesh;

The sixth, the Foolish 'Wisdom' of Flesh;

The seventh, the 'Wisdom' of Anger.

"These are the seven powers of Wrath.

"They ask the soul, 'Where do you come from, you murderer, and where are you going, conqueror of space?'

"In response the soul said,

'What binds me has been killed,

what surrounds me has been overcome,

my desire is gone,

and ignorance has died.

In a [world] I was released 17 from a world,

[and] in a type from a type which is above,

and [...from] the fetter of oblivion which exists only for a time.

From now on I'll attain to the rest of the time of the season of the age in silence.'"

When Mary said these things, she fell silent because the Savior had spoken with her up to this point.

Conflict over Authority

In response Andrew said to the brothers (and sisters), 'Say what you will about what she's said, I myself don't believe that the Savior said these things, because these teachings seem like different ideas."

In response Peter spoke out with the same concerns. He asked them concerning the Savior: "He didn't speak with a woman without our knowledge and not publicly with us, did he? Will we turn around and all listen to her? Did he prefer her to us?"

18 Then Mary wept and said to Peter, "My brother Peter, what are you thinking? Do you really think that I thought this up by myself in my heart, or that I'm lying about the Savior?"

In response Levi said to Peter, "Peter, you've always been angry. Now I see you debating with this woman like the adversaries. But if the Savior made her worthy, who are you then to reject her? Surely the Savior knows her very well. That's why he loved her more than us.

"Rather we should be ashamed, clothe ourselves with perfect Humanity, acquire it for ourselves as he instructed us, and preach the gospel, not laying down any other rule or other law beyond what the Savior said."

When 19 [Levi said these things], they started to go out to teach and to preach.

7 "Then will [matter] be [destroyed], or not?"

The “matter” is in the question, its definition is not clear.

The Savior said, "Every nature, every form, every creature exists in and with each other,

The Savior explained three kinds of existence:

Every nature,

Romans 1:20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

Romans 1:25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.1:26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature;

Peter said to him, "Since you've explained everything to us, tell us one more thing. What's the sin of the world?"

Sin was not in the “everything” that the Lord had explained.

The Savior said, "Sin doesn't exist,

Mary and Jesus

Rather we should praise his greatness

Psalm 145:6 They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness.

When Mary said these things, she turned their hearts [toward] the Good

and they [started] to debate the words of [the Savior].

Two things must be dealt with before the disciples can go out to preach. First unbelief, then the debate among themselves.

Titus 3:9 But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.

When Peter said this, he did not truly believe that the Savior did tell Mary things that he hadn’t heard.

the Savior loved you more than all other women.

SongofSongs 4:10 How beautiful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much better is your love than wine, and the fragrance of your oils than any spice!

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,

5:31 "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh."

5:32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.

In response Mary said, "I'll tell you what's hidden from you."

SongofSongs 8:1 Oh that you were like a brother to me who nursed at my mother's breasts! If I found you outside, I would kiss you, and none would despise me.

8:2 I would lead you and bring you into the house of my mother— she who used to teach me. I would give you spiced wine to drink, the juice of my pomegranate.

The first form is Darkness;

Revelation 9:2 He opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and from the shaft rose smoke like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke from the shaft.

Zephaniah 1:15 A day of wrath is that day, a day of distress and anguish, a day of ruin and devastation, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness,

The second, Desire;

Isaiah 5:11 Woe to those who rise early in the morning, that they may run after strong drink, who tarry late into the evening as wine inflames them!

5:12 They have lyre and harp, tambourine and flute and wine at their feasts, but they do not regard the deeds of the LORD, or see the work of his hands.

5:13 Therefore my people go into exile for lack of knowledge; their honored men go hungry, and their multitude is parched with thirst.

5:14 Therefore Sheol has enlarged its appetite and opened its mouth beyond measure, and the nobility of Jerusalem and her multitude will go down, her revelers and he who exults in her.

The third, Ignorance;

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

The fourth, Jealousy of Death;

Jeremiah 2:23 How can you say, 'I am not unclean, I have not gone after the Baals'? Look at your way in the valley; know what you have done— a restless young camel running here and there,

2:24 a wild donkey used to the wilderness, in her heat sniffing the wind! Who can restrain her lust? None who seek her need weary themselves; in her month they will find her.

2:25 Keep your feet from going unshod and your throat from thirst. But you said, 'It is hopeless, for I have loved foreigners, and after them I will go.'

Jeremiah 8:1 "At that time, declares the LORD, the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of its officials, the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be brought out of their tombs.

8:2 And they shall be spread before the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, which they have loved and served, which they have gone after, and which they have sought and worshiped. And they shall not be gathered or buried. They shall be as dung on the surface of the ground.

8:3 Death shall be preferred to life by all the remnant that remains of this evil family in all the places where I have driven them, declares the LORD of hosts.

Song of Songs 8:6 Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy is fierce as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the LORD.

The fifth, the Kingdom of the Flesh;

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.

Revelation 17:12 And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast.

The sixth, the Foolish 'Wisdom' of Flesh;

Ecclesiastes 2:9 So I became great and surpassed all who were before me in Jerusalem. Also my wisdom remained with me.2:10 And whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I kept my heart from no pleasure, for my heart found pleasure in all my toil, and this was my reward for all my toil.2:11 Then I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had expended in doing it, and behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was nothing to be gained under the sun.2:12 So I turned to consider wisdom and madness and folly. For what can the man do who comes after the king? Only what has already been done.2:13 Then I saw that there is more gain in wisdom than in folly, as there is more gain in light than in darkness.2:14 The wise person has his eyes in his head, but the fool walks in darkness. And yet I perceived that the same event happens to all of them.

Ecclesiastes 2:25 for apart from him who can eat or who can have enjoyment?2:26 For to the one who pleases him God has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner he has given the business of gathering and collecting, only to give to one who pleases God. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.

Psalm 73:2 But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled, my steps had nearly slipped.73:3 For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

73:12 Behold, these are the wicked; always at ease, they increase in riches.73:13 All in vain have I kept my heart clean and washed my hands in innocence.

73:17 until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I discerned their end.73:18 Truly you set them in slippery places; you make them fall to ruin.73:19 How they are destroyed in a moment, swept away utterly by terrors!73:20 Like a dream when one awakes, O Lord, when you rouse yourself, you despise them as phantoms.

The seventh, the 'Wisdom' of Anger.

Job 36:13 "The godless in heart cherish anger; they do not cry for help when he binds them.

Jeremiah 49:12 For thus says the LORD: "If those who did not deserve to drink the cup must drink it, will you go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished, but you must drink.

"These are the seven powers of Wrath.

Colossians 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Psalm 90:11 Who considers the power of your anger, and your wrath according to the fear of you?

Revelation 16:1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple telling the seven angels, "Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God."16:17 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, "It is done!"16:18 And there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a great earthquake such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake.16:19 The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered Babylon the great, to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath.

Psalm 9:15 The nations have sunk in the pit that they made; in the net that they hid, their own foot has been caught.

Matthew 18:21 Then Peter came up and said to him, "Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?"18:22 Jesus said to him,"I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.18:23 "Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants.18:24 When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.18:25 And since he could not pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made.18:26 So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, 'Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.'18:27 And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt.18:28 But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, 'Pay what you owe.'18:29 So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him, 'Have patience with me, and I will pay you.'18:30 He refused and went and put him in prison until he should pay the debt.18:31 When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place.18:32 Then his master summoned him and said to him, 'You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me.18:33 And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?'18:34 And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt.18:35 So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart."

James 1:20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

Moses was angry with Israel, and God was angry with Moses.

Numbers 20:10 Then Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, "Hear now, you rebels: shall we bring water for you out of this rock?"20:11 And Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock with his staff twice, and water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their livestock.20:12 And the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you did not believe in me, to uphold me as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land that I have given them."

Deuteronomy 3:25 Please let me go over and see the good land beyond the Jordan, that good hill country and Lebanon.'3:26 But the LORD was angry with me because of you and would not listen to me. And the LORD said to me, 'Enough from you; do not speak to me of this matter again.

There are seven demons in men, but blessed is Mary, who’s demons had been cast out.

Mark 16:9 Now when he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:

Hebrews 4:10 for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.4:11 Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience.

Ephesians 4:2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,4:3 eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

When Mary said these things, she fell silent because the Savior had spoken with her up to this point.

Conflict over Authority

Acts 24:14 But this I confess to you, that according to the Way, which they call a sect, I worship the God of our fathers, believing everything laid down by the Law and written in the Prophets,

In response Peter spoke out with the same concerns.

1 Samuel 14:6 Jonathan said to the young man who carried his armor, "Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. It may be that the LORD will work for us, for nothing can hinder the LORD from saving by many or by few."

1 Corinthians 4:20 For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power.

He asked them concerning the Savior: "He didn't speak with a woman without our knowledge and not publicly with us, did he?

Will we turn around and all listen to her?

Psalm 68:11 The Lord gives the word; the women who announce the news are a great host:

Did he prefer her to us?"

Psalm 45:7 you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions;

45:8 your robes are all fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia. From ivory palaces stringed instruments make you glad;

45:9 daughters of kings are among your ladies of honor; at your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir.

45:10 Hear, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear: forget your people and your father's house,

45:11 and the king will desire your beauty. Since he is your lord, bow to him.

and said to Peter, "My brother Peter, what are you thinking? Do you really think that I thought this up by myself in my heart, or that I'm lying about the Savior?"

John 5:38 and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent.5:39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me,

In response Levi said to Peter,

Exodus 32:26 then Moses stood in the gate of the camp and said, "Who is on the LORD's side? Come to me." And all the sons of Levi gathered around him.32:27 And he said to them, "Thus says the LORD God of Israel, 'Put your sword on your side each of you, and go to and fro from gate to gate throughout the camp, and each of you kill his brother and his companion and his neighbor.'"32:28 And the sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses. And that day about three thousand men of the people fell.

"Peter, you've always been angry. Now I see you debating with this woman like the adversaries.

Psalm 2:2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,

But if the Savior made her worthy, who are you then to reject her?

Romans 9:21 Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?9:22 What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,9:23 in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory—9:24 even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?9:25 As indeed he says in Hosea,"Those who were not my people I will call 'my people,' and her who was not beloved I will call 'beloved.'"

2 Timothy 2:21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.

Surely the Savior knows her very well. That's why he loved her more than us.

Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

7:22 On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?'7:23 And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'

7:24 "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

"Rather we should be ashamed,

John 16:8 And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment:

Isaiah 41:11 Behold, all who are incensed against you shall be put to shame and confounded; those who strive against you shall be as nothing and shall perish.
