“If these men die as all men die, or if they are visited by the fate of all mankind, then the LORD has not sent me.”
If these men die as all men die,
“Die” is said twice, one death of “these men”, one of “all men”.
The first death of the children of God: being baptized into the death of Christ Jesus, being crucified with Christ.
“Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?”
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
“Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.”
“Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’”
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.’”
“Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.”
Mankind: those who dwell on the earth, whose minds are set on things that are on earth.
“Then I looked, and I heard an eagle crying with a loud voice as it flew directly overhead, “Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth, at the blasts of the other trumpets that the three angels are about to blow!””
“Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.”
or if they are visited by the fate of all mankind,
Visited H6485: to visit; care for; miss.
Fate H6486: passive participle of H6485 (has been done by all mankind)
“If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.”
1 Corinthians 15:19
“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”
“If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.”
Sent H7971: send out; appoint
“And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!””
“For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.”
1 Corinthians 2:2
then the LORD has not sent me.
“For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.”
2 Corinthians 11:4
“not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.”
“For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.”
“Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.”
