“And fire came out from the LORD and consumed the 250 men offering the incense.”
Fire H784: Burning; fiery; hot.
“For our God is a consuming fire.”
“…The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.”
“She replied, ‘Wait, my daughter, until you learn how the matter turns out, for the man will not rest but will settle the matter today.’”
“The LORD goes out like a mighty man, like a man of war he stirs up his zeal; he cries out, he shouts aloud, he shows himself mighty against his foes.”
Came out from the LORD
Came out H3318: To go out; break out; bring forth.
“Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and amazing, seven angels with seven plagues, which are the last, for with them the wrath of God is finished.”
Consumed H398: To eat: burn up: devour.
“But the wicked will perish; the enemies of the LORD are like the glory of the pastures; they vanish—like smoke they vanish away.”
The 250 men
They are all chiefs in the congregation of God, chosen and well-known.
“And they rose up before Moses, with a number of the people of Israel, 250 chiefs of the congregation, chosen from the assembly, well-known men.”
“Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.”
Offering the incense.
“You shall not offer unauthorized incense on it, or a burnt offering, or a grain offering, and you shall not pour a drink offering on it.”
“But Nadab and Abihu died when they offered unauthorized fire before the LORD.”
“And another angel came and stood at the altar with a golden censer, and he was given much incense to offer with the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar before the throne,”
