Numbers 18:25-27 Tithe (II)

“And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Moreover, you shall speak and say to the Levites, “When you take from the people of Israel the tithe that I have given you from them for your inheritance, then you shall present a contribution from it to the LORD, a tithe of the tithe. And your contribution shall be counted to you as though it were the grain of the threshing floor, and as the fullness of the winepress.”’”

Numbers 18:25-27

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Moreover, you shall speak and say to the Levites,

“And now, O priests, this command is for you.”

Malachi 2:1

When you take from the people of Israel the tithe that I have given you from them

The Levities take the tithe because God take them instead of all the firstborn among the people of Israel.

“And you shall take the Levites for me—I am the Lord —instead of all the firstborn among the people of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the cattle of the people of Israel."

Numbers 3:41

“All that open the womb are mine, all your male livestock, the firstborn of cow and sheep. The firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb, or if you will not redeem it you shall break its neck. All the firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. And none shall appear before me empty-handed.”

Exodus 34:19-20

Donkey: the stiff-necked people of Israel

Lamb: Jesus Christ

“A wild donkey used to the wilderness, in her heat sniffing the wind! Who can restrain her lust? None who seek her need weary themselves; in her month they will find her.”

Jeremiah 2:24

“The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

John 1:29

The levities are taken by the LORD instead of all the firstborn among the people of Israel, as lambs taken in stead of donkeys, or as bodies presented as living sacrifices.

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”

Romans 12:1

For your inheritance,

“I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make you into nations, and kings shall come from you.”

Genesis 17:6

“And one of the elders said to me, ‘Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.’”

Revelation 5:5

"I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star."

Revelation 22:16

A tithe of the tithe.

The Levites received tithe from the people of Israel, and paid tithes through Abraham; they also have received the inheritance as firstborn among the people of Israel, and they will also pay their tithe through Abraham by offering their firstborn sons.

“One might even say that Levi himself, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham.”

Hebrews 7:9

“He said, ‘Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.’”

Genesis 22:2

“Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God.”

Romans 7:4

Then you shall present a contribution from it to the LORD,

“You shall not delay to offer from the fullness of your harvest and from the outflow of your presses. The firstborn of your sons you shall give to me.”

Exodus 22:29

The fullness of your harvest: the grain of the threshing floor.

The outflow of your presses: the fullness of the winepress.

And your contribution shall be counted to you as though it were the grain of the threshing floor,

The Grain H1715: increase, corn, wheat; from H1711: to move rapidly; to spawn to become numerous; grow; from H1709: a fish.

The threshing floor H1637: to smooth; any open area

“For it is written in the Law of Moses, ‘You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain.’ Is it for oxen that God is concerned?”

1 Corinthians 9:9

“O my threshed and winnowed one, what I have heard from the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, I announce to you.”

Isaiah 21:10

“For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor at the time when it is trodden; yet a little while and the time of her harvest will come."

Jeremiah 51:33

“Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion, for I will make your horn iron, and I will make your hoofs bronze; you shall beat in pieces many peoples; and shall devote their gain to the LORD, their wealth to the LORD of the whole earth.”

Micah 4:13

And as the fullness of the winepress.

Fullness H4395: abundance of produce; first of ripe fruit; from H4392: she that was with child.

Winepress H3342: a trough; a wine vat into which the juice drains; in which the grapes are crushed.

“Why is your apparel red, and your garments like his who treads in the winepress? "I have trodden the winepress alone, and from the peoples no one was with me; I trod them in my anger and trampled them in my wrath; their lifeblood spattered on my garments, and stained all my apparel. For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and my year of redemption had come.”

Isaiah 63:2-4
