Men H582: From אָנַשׁ H605; properly a mortal (and thus differeing from the more dignified אָדָם H120); hence a man in general (singly or collectively). It is often unexpressed in the English Version, especially when used in apposition with another word. H605: A primitive root; to be frail, feeble, or (figuratively) melancholy: - desperate (-ly wicked), incurable, sick, woeful.
“Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”
“In vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.”
“And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.”
But speak only the word that I tell you.
Only H657: From אָפֵס H656; cessation, that is, an end (especially of the earth); often used adverbially no further ; also (like פָּעַל H6466) the ankle (in the dual), as being the extremity of the leg or foot. H656: A primitive root; to disappear, that is, cease.
“Do you not fear me? declares the LORD. Do you not tremble before me? I placed the sand as the boundary for the sea, a perpetual barrier that it cannot pass; though the waves toss, they cannot prevail; though they roar, they cannot pass over it.”
“For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.”
“But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one dot of the Law to become void.”
So Balaam went on with the princes of Balak.
“In which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—”
“But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice sexual immorality.”
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves.”
“While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.”
