“And Balaam said to Balak, ‘Stand beside your burnt offering, and I will go. Perhaps the LORD will come to meet me, and whatever he shows me I will tell you.’ And he went to a bare height.”
Perhaps the LORD will come to meet me,
Not beside your burnt offering, but on a bare height.
“The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights; they pant for air like jackals; their eyes fail because there is no vegetation. ‘Though our iniquities testify against us, act, O LORD, for your name’s sake; for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against you.’”
“Cut off your hair and cast it away; raise a lamentation on the bare heights, for the LORD has rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.’
“A voice on the bare heights is heard, the weeping and pleading of Israel’s sons because they have perverted their way; they have forgotten the LORD their God. ‘Return, O faithless sons; I will heal your faithlessness.’ ‘Behold, we come to you, for you are the LORD our God. Truly the hills are a delusion, the orgies on the mountains. Truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.’”
“I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys. I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.”
“Saying to the prisoners, ‘Come out,’ to those who are in darkness, ‘Appear.’ They shall feed along the ways; on all bare heights shall be their pasture;”
And whatever he shows me I will tell you.
“For the LORD God does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.”
“And a man of the place answered, ‘And who is their father?’ Therefore it became a proverb, ‘Is Saul also among the prophets?’”
