Numbers‬ ‭24:1‬

“When Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he did not go, as at other times, to look for omens, but set his face toward the wilderness.”

‭‭Numbers‬ ‭24:1‬

When Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel,

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:2‬

“And try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:10‬

He did not go, as at other times, to look for omens,

Omens H5173: From נָחַשׁ H5172; an incantation or augury: - enchantment. H5172: A primitive root; properly to hiss, that is, whisper a (magic) spell; generally to prognosticate.

“For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are among you deceive you, and do not listen to the dreams that they dream, for it is a lie that they are prophesying to you in my name; I did not send them, declares the LORD.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29:8-9‬

But set his face toward the wilderness.

Wilderness H4057: From דָבַר H1696 in the sense of driving ; a pasture (that is, open field, whither cattle are driven); by implication a desert ; also speech (including its organs). H1696: A primitive root; perhaps properly to arrange ; but used figuratively (of words) to speak ; rarely (in a destructive sense) to subdue.

“But he would withdraw to desolate places and pray.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:16‬

“So I led them out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness.”

‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭20:10‬

“As they went away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses. What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:7-9‬

“And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which she is to be nourished for 1,260 days.”

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭12:6‬

“Who led you through the great and terrifying wilderness, with its fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty ground where there was no water, who brought you water out of the flinty rock, who fed you in the wilderness with manna that your fathers did not know, that he might humble you and test you, to do you good in the end.”

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭8:15-16‬

“And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.”

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭13:21‬

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41:10‬
