“Then drew near the daughters of Zelophehad the son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, from the clans of Manasseh the son of Joseph. The names of his daughters were: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.”

Then drew near the daughters

Numbers 36:10 The daughters of Zelophehad did as the Lord commanded Moses,36:11 for Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married to sons of their father's brothers.36:12 They were married into the clans of the people of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of their father's clan.




Numbers 27:2-4


“And they stood before Moses and before Eleazar the priest and before the chiefs and all the congregation, at the entrance of the tent of meeting, saying, “Our father died in the wilderness. He was not among the company of those who gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah, but died for his own sin. And he had no sons. Why should the name of our father be taken away from his clan because he had no son? Give to us a possession among our father’s brothers.”

At the entrance of the tent of meeting,

And they stood before Moses and before Eleazar the priest

Jeremiah 49:1 Concerning the Ammonites. Thus says the LORD:"Has Israel no sons? Has he no heir? Why then has Milcom dispossessed Gad, and his people settled in its cities?


2 Samuel 18:18 Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and set up for himself the pillar that is in the King's Valley, for he said, "I have no son to keep my name in remembrance." He called the pillar after his own name, and it is called Absalom's monument to this day.


Galatians 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"4:7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

Why should the name of our father be taken away from his clan because he had no son?


Matthew 21:19 And seeing a fig tree by the wayside, he went to it and found nothing on it but only leaves. And he said to it,"May no fruit ever come from you again!" And the fig tree withered at once.


Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,5:23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.



Give to us a possession among our father’s brothers.


Matthew 1:23 "Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel"(which means, God with us).





Numbers 27:5-11


“Moses brought their case before the LORD. And the LORD said to Moses, ‘The daughters of Zelophehad are right. You shall give them possession of an inheritance among their father’s brothers and transfer the inheritance of their father to them. And you shall speak to the people of Israel, saying, “If a man dies and has no son, then you shall transfer his inheritance to his daughter. And if he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers. And if he has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers. And if his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to the nearest kinsman of his clan, and he shall possess it. And it shall be for the people of Israel a statute and rule, as the LORD commanded Moses.”’”

Numbers 27:5-11


Moses brought their case before the LORD.


Isaiah 65:24 Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear.

And the LORD said to Moses, ‘The daughters of Zelophehad are right.

You shall give them possession of an inheritance among their father’s brothers


Matthew 12:48 But he replied to the man who told him,"Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?"12:49 And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said,"Here are my mother and my brothers!12:50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."



And transfer the inheritance of their father to them.


Deuteronomy 18:2 They shall have no inheritance among their brothers; the Lord is their inheritance, as he promised them.



And you shall speak to the people of Israel, saying, “If a man dies and has no son, then you shall transfer his inheritance to his daughter. And if he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers. And if he has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers. And if his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to the nearest kinsman of his clan, and he shall possess it. And it shall be for the people of Israel a statute and rule, as the LORD commanded Moses.”


Matthew 3:8 Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.3:9 And do not presume to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father,' for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.




Numbers 27:12-14


“The LORD said to Moses, “Go up into this mountain of Abarim and see the land that I have given to the people of Israel. When you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was, because you rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin when the congregation quarreled, failing to uphold me as holy at the waters before their eyes.” (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)”

Numbers 27:12-14


The LORD said to Moses, “Go up into this mountain of Abarim


Abarim H5682: Plural of עֵבֶר H5676; regions beyond. H5676: From עָבַר H5674; properly a region across ; but used only adverbially (with or without a preposition) on the opposite side (especially of the Jordan; usually meaning the east).


“Go up to Lebanon, and cry out, and lift up your voice in Bashan; cry out from Abarim, for all your lovers are destroyed. I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, ‘I will not listen.’ This has been your way from your youth, that you have not obeyed my voice. The wind shall shepherd all your shepherds, and your lovers shall go into captivity; then you will be ashamed and confounded because of all your evil.”

Jeremiah 22:20-22



and see the land that I have given to the people of Israel. When you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was,


Hebrews 10:36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.10:37 For,"Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay;10:38 but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him."

Kadesh H6946: The same as קָדֵשׁ H6945; sanctuary. H6945: From קָדַשׁ H6942; a (quasi) sacred person, that is, (technically) a (male) devotee (by prostitution) to licentious idolatry.


Zin H6790: From an unused root meaning to prick ; a crag.

“So the LORD said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him. Make him stand before Eleazar the priest and all the congregation, and you shall commission him in their sight. You shall invest him with some of your authority, that all the congregation of the people of Israel may obey.”

“And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the LORD. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he and all the people of Israel with him, the whole congregation.” And Moses did as the LORD commanded him. He took Joshua and made him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole congregation, and he laid his hands on him and commissioned him as the LORD directed through Moses.”

and he laid his hands on him


Psalm 87:6 The LORD records as he registers the peoples,"This one was born there." Selah



and commissioned him as the LORD directed through Moses.
