Numbers‬ ‭33‬:‭47‬-‭49

“And they set out from Almon-diblathaim and camped in the mountains of Abarim, before Nebo. And they set out from the mountains of Abarim and camped in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho; they camped by the Jordan from Beth-jeshimoth as far as Abel-shittim in the plains of Moab.”

‭‭Numbers‬ ‭33‬:‭47‬-‭49

And they set out from Almon-diblathaim and camped in the mountains of Abarim, before Nebo.

Almon-diblathaim H5963: From the same as עַלְמוֹן H5960 and the dual of דְּבֵלָה H1690 (compare בֵּית דִּבְלָתַיִם H1015) with enclitic of direction; Almon towards Diblathajim. H5960: From עָלַם H5956; hidden. H1690: From an unused root (akin to זָבַלH2082) probably meaning to press together; a cake of pressed figs. H5956: A primitive root; to veil from sight, that is, conceal (literally or figuratively).

Abarim H5682: Plural of עֵבֶר H5676; regions beyond ; Abarim, a place in Palestine: - Abarim, passages. H5676: From עָבַר H5674; properly a region across ; but used only adverbially (with or without a preposition) on the opposite side (especially of the Jordan; usually meaning the east). H5674: A primitive root; to cross over; used very widely of any transition (literally or figuratively; transitively, intransitively, intensively or causatively); specifically to cover (in copulation).

Nebo H5015: Probably of foreign derivation; Nebo, the name of a Babylonian deity, also of a mountain in Moab, and of a place in Palestine.

Numbers 27:12 The LORD said to Moses, "Go up into this mountain of Abarim and see the land that I have given to the people of Israel.

Jeremiah 22:20 "Go up to Lebanon, and cry out, and lift up your voice in Bashan; cry out from Abarim, for all your lovers are destroyed.

Jeremiah 48:1 Concerning Moab. Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel:"Woe to Nebo, for it is laid waste! Kiriathaim is put to shame, it is taken; the fortress is put to shame and broken down;

And they set out from the mountains of Abarim and camped in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho;

Jericho H3405: Perhaps from יָרֵחַ H3394; its month ; or else from רוּחַ H7306; fragrant. H3394: From the same as יֶרַח H3391; the moon. H7306: A primitive root; properly to blow, that is, breathe ; only (literally) to smell or (by implication perceive (figuratively to anticipate, enjoy).

Joshua 6:1 Now Jericho was shut up inside and outside because of the people of Israel. None went out, and none came in.6:2 And the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and mighty men of valor.6:3 You shall march around the city, all the men of war going around the city once. Thus shall you do for six days.6:4 Seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark. On the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.6:5 And when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, when you hear the sound of the trumpet, then all the people shall shout with a great shout, and the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people shall go up, everyone straight before him."

Joshua 6:24 And they burned the city with fire, and everything in it. Only the silver and gold, and the vessels of bronze and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD.6:26 Joshua laid an oath on them at that time, saying, "Cursed before the LORD be the man who rises up and rebuilds this city, Jericho."At the cost of his firstborn shall he lay its foundation, and at the cost of his youngest son shall he set up its gates."

they camped by the Jordan from Beth-jeshimoth as far as Abel-shittim in the plains of Moab.

Beth-jeshimoth H1020: From בַּיִת H1004 and the plural of תּוֹרָהH8451 with the article interposed; house of the deserts.

Abel-shittim H63: From אָבֵל H58 and the plural of שִׁטָּה H7848, with the article inserted; meadow of the acacias. H58: From an unused root (meaning to be grassy); a meadow. H7848: Feminine of a derivative (the second form being only in the plural, meaning the sticks of wood) from the same as שֹׁטֵט H7850; the acacia (from its scourging thorns).

Numbers 25:1 While Israel lived in Shittim, the people began to whore with the daughters of Moab.
