Numbers‬ ‭24:23‬

“And he took up his discourse and said, ‘Alas, who shall live when God does this?’”

‭‭Numbers‬ ‭24:23‬

Alas H188: Probably from אָוָה H183 (in the sense of crying out after); lamentation ; also interjectionally, Oh !: - alas, woe. H183: A primitive root; to wish for: - covet, (greatly) desire, be desirous, long, lust (after).

“Then I looked, and I heard an eagle crying with a loud voice as it flew directly overhead, ‘Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth, at the blasts of the other trumpets that the three angels are about to blow!’”

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭8:13‬

Isaiah 5:8 Woe to those who join house to house, who add field to field, until there is no more room, and you are made to dwell alone in the midst of the land.5:11 Woe to those who rise early in the morning, that they may run after strong drink, who tarry late into the evening as wine inflames them!5:18 Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of falsehood, who draw sin as with cart ropes,5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!5:21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight!5:22 Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine, and valiant men in mixing strong drink.

When God does this

“He has redeemed my soul from going down into the pit, and my life shall look upon the light. Behold, God does all these things, twice, three times, with a man, to bring back his soul from the pit, that he may be lighted with the light of life.”

‭‭Job‬ ‭33:28-30‬

“He said, ‘The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence. I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. For the waves of death encompassed me, the torrents of destruction assailed me; the cords of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called upon the LORD; to my God I called. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry came to his ears…. The LORD thundered from heaven, and the Most High uttered his voice. And he sent out arrows and scattered them; lightning, and routed them. Then the channels of the sea were seen; the foundations of the world were laid bare, at the rebuke of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.’”

‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭22:2-7, 14-16‬

“Therefore thus I will do to you, O Israel; because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel!”

‭‭Amos‬ ‭4:12‬
